Don’t waste your time making any new years resolutions in 2011. Not only will you kill a couple of your brain cells in the process, but there is a 99% chance you wont do any of it come 2012 & consequently feel like s**t as you come up with new ones then.
What I recommend instead is that this year you try what we will call – The Monthly To Do’s. Its the same as a New Years resolution, only this time your resolutions are only for 1 month – each and every month.
1. Doing something for a month is much more realistic than doing it for a whole year.
2. You will do so much more in 12 months and feel better about accomplishing it, rather than waiting for an entire year to pass before adding something new & arbitrary to your list.
As for what resolutions to make, well of course this is up to you but I recommend 5 that should definitely make it on your list:
Work out and eat healthy.
Be there for your friends and family.
If you find that special someone, treat them right.
Find out who you are. Stop watching so much TV and read a book on occasion. Spend some time thinking about who you are, what you want and where you are going and make some steps in whatever direction it is you want your life to go.
Be true to yourself and start to do stuff because you want to, not because you have to. Find the perfect balance between being nice and being an asshole / being Selfish and Selfless! Too much of one and not enough of the other, is not good for you.
If you do not have a passport, Get one. Life without traveling is like a flower that never blossoms! Its just sad.
If you are one of those people who has never even left the city that you are in, then go to another city. If you have never left the country, then go to another country. If you have never left the continent, then go to another continent.
Traveling opens up your horizons more than anything else ever will.
Before I get into this, I would just like to put a disclaimer out there: *Make sure what you are trying is Legal and Not illegal. Stealing, Taking drugs or going to Jail are definitely not things you wanna add to your list*. I am talking along the lines of – Learnig to dance (Salsa), Jumping out of plane (with a parachute on), Sand surfing, abseiling, learning to play an instument, learning to cook e.t.c. There are so many different and wonderful things out there, so why not try as many of them as you can?
Put some money away and try and eliminate your debt. Unless you running a successful business, debt is a bad idea. So keep your credit to a minimum and your savings / investments to a maximum.
